Description
**Buccaneer Role** introduces a disruptive, player-exclusive action set in a role-selection game, enabling piracy, plundering, raiding, or kidnapping with reuse restrictions and rewards. Key mechanics include: - *Role integration* Place Buccaneer placard with starting roles; follows standard player count rules. - *Exclusive actions* Choosing player selects one: **Piracy** (remove/store up to 3 goods from transport ship), **Plunder** (clear trading house goods for 1 VP each), **Raid** (reduce colonist ship to player minimum, keep/use up to 3 on own island, return excess), **Kidnapping** (claim unused role, take its doubloons; +3 bank doubloons if opponent claims it later, or play it solo if unused by round end). - *No passive reward* No doubloon placed on Buccaneer if unchosen. - *Reuse limitation* Prior taker cannot retake until another player does. - *Reward card* Taker receives persistent reward card until passed to next Buccaneer player. The Buccaneer role placard joins standard starting roles, adhering to player count rules, and grants the selector one of four self-only actions without impacting others: Piracy clears a transport ship's goods for up to 3 stored; Plunder empties the trading house (excluding warehouse) for 1 VP per good; Raid minimizes colonist ship to player count, allowing immediate use of up to 3 on the player's island (bypassing San Juan addition) with excess returned to supply; Kidnapping seizes an unused role, claiming its doubloons—opponents later using it yield 3 extra bank doubloons, or the kidnapper plays it if untouched by round's end. Unchosen Buccaneers receive no end-round doubloon. Repeat selection is barred for the prior taker until another intervenes, and takers claim a retained reward card transferable only upon next selection.
