Description
--- "Carcassonne: The Messengers" is a compact expansion for Carcassonne featuring dual scoring meeples and message tiles that trigger special actions on specific score track spaces. Key mechanics include: - *Dual scoring meeples* Players place a second meeple on the score track at game start and choose which to advance when scoring points. - *Message tile activation* Landing on dark spaces (0, 5, 10, etc.) as the active player draws the top message tile for a special action. - *Special scoring options* Tiles allow scoring the smallest road/city/cloister (leaving meeple), 2 points per banner or knight, 3 points per farmer, drawing an extra tile, or scoring/returning one follower. - *Tile recycling* After use, the chosen message tile is placed at the bottom of the stack. - *End-game resolution* Sum positions of both meeples, place one meeple on the total, and calculate final scores without further messages. Carcassonne: The Messengers is a small expansion for the Carcassonne series where players begin by placing a second meeple on the score track. During play, when scoring points, players select which meeple to move forward. If a meeple lands on a dark space (0, 5, 10, etc.) and belongs to the active player, they draw the top message tile from the stack and choose one action: score their smallest road, city, or cloister as if at game end but leave the meeple in place; score two points per banner in occupied cities or per knight; score three points per farmer; draw and play an additional tile; or score one follower and return it to supply. The selected tile then goes to the bottom of the message stack. At game end, players add the scores of their two meeples, place one meeple on that total, and determine final standings without additional messages. ---
