Description

"Carcassonne: The Flying Machines" is a compact expansion for Carcassonne introducing winged tiles that enable optional meeple flight to distant features via directional wings and die-rolled distance. Key mechanics include: - *Winged tiles* Eight special landscape tiles featuring wings are shuffled into the tile draw. - *Placement options* Upon drawing a winged tile, players place it normally and choose standard follower placement or flying a new follower. - *Flight mechanics* Meeples fly in the wings' direction for 1-3 tiles (die roll); land on any unfinished, non-field feature if available, even if occupied. - *Failure condition* No placement if target lacks a suitable tile or all non-field features are complete ("Crash!"). Carcassonne: The Flying Machines is a small expansion for the Carcassonne series, incorporating eight landscape tiles depicting a pair of wings into the standard tile mix. When a player draws such a tile, it is placed following normal rules, after which they may opt to deploy a follower conventionally or initiate a flight maneuver with a new follower. Flight direction aligns with the wings' orientation, while travel distance—ranging from 1 to 3 tiles—is determined by a die roll. Successful flights allow placement on any unfinished, non-field feature on the target tile, regardless of occupation. However, if no tile exists at the destination or all non-field features there are completed, no meeple is placed, resulting in a "Crash!" and forgoing the turn's placement.
