Description

--- **The Siege** is a 4-tile Carcassonne expansion introducing city sieges that halve scoring for completed cities while doubling peasant points. Key mechanics include: - *Siege tiles* Enable laying siege on cities, altering completion scoring. - *Reduced city scoring* Besieged completed cities yield 1 point per tile (2 with cathedral). - *Double peasant scoring* Peasants supply both city and besiegers, counting twice in completed besieged cities. The Siege is a compact 4-tile expansion for Carcassonne, focused on siege mechanics for cities. Special tiles allow players to besiege cities, drastically reducing points upon completion to 1 per tile—or 2 if a cathedral is included—while peasants in these cities score double by supplying both defenders and attackers. Originally released as 'Die Katharer' with Doris Matthäus artwork exclusively in Spielbox magazine (issue 5/2004 and August 2005 Almanach), it was reissued by Rio Grande Games in October 2008 within the Mini Compilation Cult, Siege & Creativity, featuring new art criticized for reduced siege visibility. A 6-tile variant, 'Die Belagerer' with similar new art, appeared in the 2013 Carcassonne Müller Exklusiv-Edition from German retailer Müller, now available via Cundco. It belongs to the Carcassonne series. ---
